About C-BIG Servers

C-BIG Servers is a web service that provides a diverse set of computational pipelines in the context of Systems Bioinformatics approach: a relatively new approach, which lies in the intersection of systems biology and classical Bioinformatics. The Department of Bioinformaticsprovides a bundle of bioinformatics pipelines and tools for in-house data analysis, offered either as services or as resources for further collaboration.

The Department of Bioinformatics at CING has been established on 2016 as a Group under the support of the EU H2020 ERA Chair grant, BIORISE (Grant Number 669026) with an EU contribution of EUR 2 273 546 for the period 2015-2020 and then was upgraded to a permanent new Department within CING. The mission of the Department is to function as a hub of excellence in the areas of applied bioinformatics to early diagnosis, effective prognosis and drug discovery contributing to the concepts of Preventive, Personalized and Precise Medicine. This is accomplished through state-of-the-art bioinformatics research, advanced education in postgraduate level and a bundle of bioinformatics pipelines that are offered either as services or as resources for collaboration.

Bioinformatics Web-Tools

Vir2Drug

a drug repurposing tool based on pathogen commonalities

PathIN

creating multilevel pathway interaction networks

PathExNET

creating pathway networks form gene expression statistics

ProtExA

post-processing of protein and gene expression datasets

Pathway Connector

an easy way for rapidly relating pathways together

CoDReS

ranking candidate drugs, combining functional and structural criteria

BacterialWars

informatin on bacterial species found in the same microbiome niche

VarClass

classifying variants of unknown significance for a specific disease

Assistive Technologies

Paralysis is the loss of voluntary mobility, which is usually the result of a neurological disease or brain injury. We have installed an eye-control system at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) and we aim to build a pool of personalized communication grids for our patients in order to facilitate what we call personalized assistance.

Among our plans is to create a web-based repository where we will be able to publish the grids that will be developed.

New Collaboration

The Bioinformatics Department (C-BIG) at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING) and the High Performance Computing Facility (HPCF) of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) are collaborating to develop a web-based HPC-powered Bioinformatics Suite of Tools and Resources, available to the public. The Suite is accessible here

Single Cell Analytics

The Department of Bioinformatics has recently upgraded the pipelines, able to perform single-cell analytics.
